Chocolate was born on August 27, 2005.  From day one, he was a ball of non-stop energy with eyes that touched your soul.  If only he would stop moving long enough to see them.  Angel started to take Chocolate to work with him and realized he loved to jump when he started to follow horses over the jumps.  He would jump and jump.  He began jumping over 4'-5’ horse jumps, and our friends and family thought it was crazy.

Then came July of 2007, and the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue Liberty Leap.  We went just to see what it was all about on Saturday.  There we met Sharon Rodgers and Thunder.  Sharon encouraged us to bring Chocolate back the next day.  We thought, "Well, he can jump over things, but will he jump off a dock into water?"  We also were a little worried, because he had just gone swimming for the first time two weeks before. .. lets just say Chocolate was not winning any Olympic trials for his swimming skills.  However, after Sunday we found that Chocolate definitely knew how to jump off the dock.  He jumped 20’ on his first try.

From that moment our family was hooked.  Angel and Chocolate found a brand new bond.  As we headed off to Manheim PA 2 weeks later, our daughter, Emi, wanted to know why she couldn’t have a dog to jump.  On Sunday Chocolate placed 4th in the Amatuer Final, and on Monday we had the latest addition to the family, Fudge.

Chocolate went to Easton, MD in November.  After jumping big all weekend long, Angel decided to try EV on a spur of the moment decision.  He had practiced a few time from the swing set at home, but never into the water.  Chocolate's toy obsession took over and he placed first in the Cadets at 5’ 10".  It was a great way to end the year.

At home, Chocolate now loves to swim, play, and eat.  He is a great big brother to Emi, Julian and Fudge. But as explained in the movie, Spanglish, "Whatever you do, do NOT throw the ball."
