Easton MD Wow.....what a weekend! Between being very
cold and chilly and heating up with excitement for the dogs and great jumps, we drank lots of hot chocolate and ate clam chower
at the "Duck Cafe". We ran into familiar faces as well as made new friends, and it was great to see how many
members did make it to the event.
Matthew & Ruger starting the winning streak on Friday with a 2nd Place Junior
(Wave 1) jump of 11' 4". On Saturday, Keystone DockDogs was represented by Team Beauvais, Team Argus,
Team ThunderBooms, Team Hatcher and Team Ruger. Cody & Kori, one of our Youth Handlers, brought home a 2nd
Place (Wave 5) in the Junior Division with a 14' 6" - barely beating Alexandra & Kori who brought home
a 1st Place (Wave 4) in the Junior Division with a 14' 2". Eric & Kasey brought home a 3rd Place Master
(Wave 5) with a 20' 6" and a 1st Place Senior with a 19' 7". Chris & Hatcher, another Youth
Handler, brought home a 3rd Place Novice with an 8' 9". Sharon & Ruger also brough home two placements
- 4th Place Junior (Wave 4) with a 12' 10" and 3rd Place Novice (Wave 6) with a 8' 5". Susan &
Argus brought home a 4th Place Junior (Wave 6) with a 12' 6". The crowd was amazing and it was awesome to be
cheered on, especially on such a cold and windy day.
We were greeted by sunshine Sunday morning and the atmosphere
and overall mood improved. More club members joined us at the event - Team Bella (who "roughed it" overnight
at the Hotel with the DockDog guys), Team NestleBestly with Mercy, and Team Rohrbaugh with Zeke and Lucy. Angie
& Nestle started the day off with a bang, bringing home a 3rd Place Master (Wave 7) with a 21' 11"
and a 1st Place Master (Wave 8) with a 21' 8". Mercy, with Angie, tried to catch up to her big brother and
brought home a 3rd Place Junior (Wave 7) with a 12' 2". Eric & Kasey kept up their winning streak and got TWO
1st Place Seniors (Wave 7 & 8) with a 19' 8" and 18' 8". The Keystone Club ruled Wave 8 in the
Junior Division with Cody & Kori getting 1st Place (13' 4"), Susan & Argus getting 2nd Place (13' 2"),
and Taylor & Zeke getting 4th Place (10' 1"). The crowd once again was amazing and the dogs loved the attention!
After doing very well in the Big Air Waves we moved onto EV. What a crowd pleaser that was! Between big
cheers and heartfelt "oh no's" you could feel the overall tension of each person in the crowd. Favorites
had been selected and cheerful support was given. Angie & Nestle stood their ground for a 1st Place finish
with a 6' 6" grab and a crowd pleasing extra grab of 7'. Tim & Bella followed up with a solid 2nd Place grab
of 6' 4" and Sharon & Thunder finished 4th with a 6' 2" grab. I am always in awe watching
these dogs catapult into the air to get that bumper!
Big Air Finals came around and again the Keystone Club
ruled the Junior Divisional Finals with a top three sweep:
1st Place - Cody Beauvais with Kori - 13'
10" 2nd Place - Susan Hetrick with Argus - 11' 10" Top Veteran Dog 3rd Place - Angie Jones with
Mercy - 10' 6"
In the Pro Finals, Tim Kline & Bella jumped their way into the Top Four and finished
with a 2nd Place jump of 23'. Sharon Rodgers & Thunder finished in 7th Place with a 20' 6" jump and
Angie Jones & Nestle finished in 10th Place with a 19' 7" jump. Good job to all the finalists!!
Overall it was a great weekend. We stuck it out through the cold to end up with a great Sunday! The Delmarva
Event was a success and I am sure we will be back there next year. For more information click here for club statistics and here for complete event results.
